About UKPayCalc.io

Independent tool, not affiliated with HMRC ยท Last reviewed 26 July 2026 by the UKPayCalc editorial team

UKPayCalc.io is a free, independent calculator built to help UK employees quickly see what a gross salary actually works out to after tax, National Insurance, pension contributions, and student loan repayments.

Sources & Methodology

Every rate used in the calculator is taken directly from published government sources and rechecked each tax year:

Figures are updated whenever HMRC publishes new rates for a tax year. The "Last reviewed" date above reflects the most recent check against these sources.

What This Tool Is

The calculator applies the published 2025/26 HMRC income tax bands (England/Wales/Northern Ireland and Scotland separately), the standard Class 1 National Insurance rates, and the current student loan repayment thresholds for Plans 1, 2, 4, and the Postgraduate Loan. It assumes the standard 1257L tax code and salary-sacrifice pension treatment, which covers the majority of standard PAYE employees but will not exactly match every individual's payslip.

What This Tool Is Not

UKPayCalc.io is not affiliated with HMRC, the UK government, or any employer, umbrella company, or payroll provider. We do not access, store, or transmit your salary information โ€” every calculation runs in your browser. This tool does not account for non-standard tax codes, benefits in kind, marriage allowance transfers, or IR35 status determinations, all of which can change your actual take-home pay.

Not Tax Advice

This calculator produces an estimate for informational purposes only and is not tax, legal, or financial advice. Your actual deductions depend on your specific tax code, employment status, and circumstances. For an accurate assessment of your own pay, check your payslip, your Personal Tax Account at gov.uk, or consult a qualified accountant or tax adviser.
